Title: Issue about id
Post by: kimba1 on April 17, 2013, 11:16:12 AM
In the issue about immigrants legal or otherwise showing id i had no problems. Then i remember a congress woman got upset about showing id . So if our reps thinks its a hardship showing id than how can we get others to do it also. I used to be a gas station cashier decades ago and people were highly offend showing that little card .

The problem is regular americans don't want to show id. Even find it demeaning from my experience.
It's probly why voter don't show id for voting. Nothing to do with rights. Some kind of americans cultural adversion to showing id.

At liqour stores i see tons of people bitching about showing id despite thier of age. It's such a chore to show it but not an issue to pay by card which is pretty much the same action

I'd have a problem showing my drivers license if i was not driving. If i was no big deal.

I don't have a problem showing photo id when i vote.

I do have a problem giving out my social security number.

The issue has more to do with privacy and identity protection than any constitutional right.

What about using your creditcard and the cashier ask for id?

I had customers leave because of that thinking it offensive.

i show them my license but i don't take it out of my wallet. For cops i do.

I don't have a problem with a cashier verifying my id on a credit card purchase, but there are a few rules. If they swipe my card through a reader out of my sight, even under the counter, i cancel the purchase and walk out of the store. I pay at the cashier at restaurants for the same reason.

Mine say "See ID" where the signiture goes.

I agree that this is more secure than having a cleark that has never seen me before accept my signiture as verifacation.;
