Write to Hillary.

Not you Rand Paul.

Rand Paul labels Hillary Clinton a 'war hawk'

Rand Paul likes to posture.
I do not take anything he says seriously.

I just want you to remember this , if President HRC steams us into a large war.

Or if President Rand Paul can't avoid a war either.

I would prefer Elizabeth Warren to Hillary. But she is not running.

The military industrial complex is very effective at making war seem necessary and inevitable.

No, they are not.

Any imagined slight gets someone all het up about war.
Damn near anything will get McCain's drawers in a knot.

    What?

Is the word "enemy" empty of meaning?

Do you think that just by virtue of our being Americans , we are loved and respected universally?
Title: Re: Hillary
Post by: Xavier_Onassis on August 27, 2014, 01:04:47 PM
And you what, think we should declare war on all those that do not like us?
Title: Re: Hillary

And you what, think we should declare war on all those that do not like us?

Not required when they are declaring war on us.

And you , you think that we should disarm entirely and invite all nations to be nice to us because we are so sweet?

Have the Chinese or the Russians declared war on us?

No, they have not.

They have no motive to do so.

Wise American leaders do not covert Crimea or the Spratlys.

    The Chinese and the Russians?

What brought them to your mind?

I was thinking about the enemies that have in fact attacked us in recent years , or directly threatened to in recent weeks.

Not in this context.

Do you mean recently or in another thread?

I think Richard Nixon came up with a good way to handle the potential threat from China, and the threat from the Soviet Union was knocked back by Reagan policy(and Carter policy come to think of it).

Our worser enemy is one too stupid to realize the cost of War, this doesn't describe the present Russia or China.

This country does not have any enemies that are likely to attack it.
There are some groups that might do so that are not affiliated with any nation state, perhaps.

You can have it both ways?

We do have enemies both nations and international conspiracy types, I guess we do have it both ways , and we have been attacked.

  There is Al Quieda
http://www.nbcnews.com/id/4677978/ns/world_news-hunt_for_al_qaida/t/al-qaida-timeline-plots-attacks/#.VADtwfldVs0

Al Quieda attacks us anywhere they can find us, the list on that link is not exhaustive but it shows Al Quieda is not afraid to fail and try again.

I didn't know about the attempt to assassinate president Clinton, wow imagine the environmentally responsible destruction of Afghanistan that president Gore would have led.

There is Iran.
http://dailycaller.com/2014/02/01/iranian-commander-we-have-targets-within-america/
http://www.jpost.com/Iranian-Threat/News/Iranian-admiral-The-US-can-expect-heavy-losses-at-sea-should-it-attack-Iran-340940
http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2014/03/21/why-is-iran-building-giant-mock-up-of-u-s-aircraft-carrier/

Iran does not pass up opportunities to arm cats paws or give bombs to people already busy bombing Americans.

There is North Korea. They are nuts and they hope we know it.
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/north-korea-insults-john-kerry-25047443
Ok that is just funny.

North Korea has kidnapped and killed Americans in the past and relies on their enormous collection of artillery that boresights Seoul to get away with that behavior.

China, who taunts our aircraft and ships at sea.
http://thediplomat.com/2014/02/in-america-china-is-public-enemy-1/

Actually I don't think that China is very liable to attack us , unless there was a profit involved in it, I disagree with this article on the link. The Chinese are probably aware that a serious war with the US would cause starvation win or loose.
On the other hand the Chinese military train as if we were the most probable attacker.http://breakingdefense.com/2013/10/chinas-fear-of-us-may-tempt-them-to-preempt-sinologists/

Russia , http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/state-television-presenter-warns-russia-could-turn-the-us-into-radioactive-dust-9197433.html

Is a hot MESS.

Pakistan has the A bomb , has nasty friends , and must be the least grateful allay in history.

North Korea has attacked South Korea in a limited way. They have not attacked the US since the Pueblo incident, not in any significant way.

The Russians have not attacked the US. Al Qaeda is not a country.

China is not a threat to the US. You are reprinting rightwing propaganda. China wants to sell us stuff.

The actual aswer to the question "when and when was that?" is Never and nowhere.

The actual aswer to the question "when and when was that?" is Never and nowhere.

What is your standard?

If you are just going to poo-poo everything less than the burning down of a major city, I won't have anything much.

Except for 9-11 which burnt down a few blocks of New York and part of the pentagon.

And Putin yesterday reminding us that he has nukes to keep him safe no matter what he does.

Does blowing up embassies, ships , barracks, ambassadors and such doesn't bother you you just have an unrealistic standard and nothing less than WWIII should bother you.

Of course invading Granada was small potatoes too and also should not bother you.

Grenada was a stupid war. I think that Putin invading Ukraine is also stupid. If I were a Russian I would oppose it.
Title: Re: Hillary

  This suggests an interesting question.

Are there Russians who oppose Putin's plans for Ukraine?

How is the loyal opposition treated in modern Russia?

       I haven't heard recently.

Yes there is an opposition in Russia.

Most of it would qualify as "loyal opposition"

Things are not easy for them.

Probably better now than during Soviet times , but the population at large has attitudes that are holdover from the earlier situation.

Quote
Some 72% of Russians believe that for the sake of state interest, it is acceptable to be silent or distort information in the media about some publicly important issues, Interfax reported. And 54% believe that information can even be distorted for the sake of state interests.

According to the latest poll by the Public Opinion Foundation based on 1500 respondents from 43 subjects of the Russian Federation, 62% basically believe the state media. In addition 54% believe that journalistic professionalism has grown recently and 47% believe that reporters have even more opportunity to express their opinion these days, although 59% of those polled could not name any authoritative journalists.

Of those surveyed, 60% believe Russia media covers events in the country on the whole objectively; 23% disagree and 17% find it hard to say. Most Russians get their news from federal central media (88%), the poll finds.

Translation: @Poll_in M. was detained at a rally, and they [the police] are writing up the report: “What did you demonstrate against?” “Against idiotism, war, and censorship”; They wrote down: “demonstrated against state policy.”

The Russian Federation includes over a hundred nationalities and dozens of cultures: Christians, Old Believers,  Muslims, Buddhists and Animists. Many of the minorities were exploited by the Russians under the Czars and the Communists and mistrust Putin, to say the least.

The glaciers, however, are disappearing.

They are shrinking everywhere.

There is a lot evidence that sea levels are rising. Miami Beach used to flood only when there was a hurricane. Not it floods after a strong rain.

The main argument is that it is debatable whether we can do anything to reverse or slow down global climate change.

This who argue that it does not exist are simpletons. No serious scientists even bother to listen to them. They are similar to flat earthers.
Title: Re: Hillary
Post by: sirs on September 05, 2014, 10:24:05 PM
No, the main argument is if global warming is supposedly man made caused.  A fairly low argument is can anything be done....to deal with something that is pretty much naturally occurring.  Such an act would require a global effort, and even then would have little effect on the overall temperature of the globe.  Leftists seem to be under the delusion that man is more powerful than nature.

Not to mention the idiocy of thinking passing "global warming legislation" at the state level, would do ANYTHING...outside of making some leftist legislators feel good about themselves, while they rake in the donations from those environmental special interests

And no one is saying global warming doesn't exist, so you can drop that deflection
