All you need to do is watch "Cops" for that.
There will be a lot of police abuse as well.
There is at least one NYPD cop that has caused the city to pay out over 50 times in settlements. The police often do a really poor job in reporting the malfeasance of colleagues.

I am all for the police when they do their duty as they are supposed to.
The entire recent debate is about the bad things that happened when they have not acted as they are supposed to.
It is not their duty to choke people to death for selling single cigarettes.

Choking a person after he tells you he cannot breathe is not an "accident".

Already had to correct you on this.....When a person can tell you they can't breathe, they in fact, can. Not to mention that the choke hold was released at that point, as well. So yes, despite your opinion of the Garner death, a tragic accident occurred...supported by the evidence, that a grand jury had complete access to, and confirmed it as such

It was not an accident. It was at least manslaughter. The cop caused his death, just like you running down an old lady in a wheelchair when you only meant to scare her into moving into another lane.
Fucking cop should be tried.

Actually, it was....as concluded by a Grand Jury, that had access to ALL the evidence, not just 1 video, and determined it an accident, no need to be tried. Perhaps the message can be taken from this.....comply with an officer's instructions to begin with, and accidents like this, won't happen

What indicates to you that the death was other than accidental?
Shouts obviously demonstrating access to atmosphere, there is no argument that the "chokehold" directly caused asphyxia.
We don't really give our police discretion to not arrest in a situation like this, tho I have a lot of sympathy for Eric Garner , it doesn't translate to anger at the police that killed him.
Would you like me to be mad at the legislators that made the situation unavoidable?

If the officer simply jumped Garner, without any provocation, and without any clear instruction to follow, then the Professor might have a leg to stand on, with his proclamations of how the officer should be tried for manslaughter. Garner instead was beligerant, and refused to comply with officers' clear instructions. Garner escalated a situation that directly brought about the circumstances to his unfortunate death. Not the officer, but Garner. The officer, being an officer of the law, enforces existing law, passed by the legislature.
Regardless of how may times its repeated, Garner was not killed for selling illegal cigarettes. He was accidentally killed, when he failed to comply with officers instructions, that brought about the response officers had to use to force him to comply,.... that combination of that stress applied to the his apparent weakened cardiac status, as reinforced by his huge endomorphic body mass, brought about his tragic death
Had he complied, he's still be alive today

Perhaps , or perhaps his condition was so fragile that he was within his last days anyhow.
Even so I feel a lot of sympathy and still have room to be mad at the legislature that is willing to subject the public to the enforcement of frivolous laws and taxes.
I would like for the point he was trying to make as he resisted arrest to be spoken of and respected.
