Post by: Xavier_Onassis on June 12, 2016, 11:37:41 AM
And there are 53 wounded in addition.

But they were mostly all Gay and not like sirs of CU4, so it's okay.

Right?

C'mon, guys, let's hear a SOLUTION.

=============================================

The reasons no one ever strutted into Miss Kitty's Bar in Dodge City on Gunsmoke and shot up all the gamblers, ladies of the evening, bartenders and the piano player were as follows:

(1) Marshall Dillon made the cowboys fresh off the trail hand over their firearms to him and Festus before they were permitted to carouse.

(2) No one had the technology to manufacture semi-automatic assault weapons fitted with huge ammo clips back in the 1880's.

Here is why Marshall Dillon's plan would not work now:

(1) The Gun Lobby gives so much money to the NRA and Congress that gun laws restricting assault weapons and huge clips and ammo be made available for purchase by any gun nut in the nation, be they Muslim, Christian, Jew, Atheist or Follower of his Noodliness, the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

(2) taking away them cowpoke's guns would clearly be a violation of the Second Amendment rights of  binging cowpokes. Festus and the Marshall would be ordered to stop taking them cowpoke's guns and ammo.

The upshot is that We the People are less safe from gun nuts than the citizens of Dodge in 1886.

Actually, I exaggerated a bit.
I should have said 49  people were murdered. The shooter was killed, but only to make him stop shooting. He was a perp, not a victim.

The thing is that there have been multiple suggestions made and pushed, to better minimize such acts.   But since they're not ideologically driven, with the mindset of dissolving a Constitutional right, they're routinely ignored, and the ignorant inferrence that nothing is being done is repeated.  Without even knowing, I bet this location was one of those proverbial "gun free zones".  Would I be correct?

Wyatt Earp actually did this in real life. That is why he was shooting the Clantons.

Miss Kitty got kidnapped twice a year.

The Gun lobby gets its money from a very large number of American citizens , who are liable to be a larger group if the second amendment is seriously threatened.

Can this incident be the ending of the silly tradition of the "Gun Free Zone"?

In the space of about a year we have had two guys (and a gal) pledge their lives to Isis and  go on a shooting spree.

Yeah, sure.
Let's let everyone take their guns into bars.
What could possibly go wrong?

You confuse people trained to carry a concealed weapon with simply letting any tom, dick, or harry, carry whatever they want.  No surprise in pushing that false narrative.     ::)

People get drunk in bars.
Even if they are trained in gun safety or whatever.
They can do a lot more harm if they are armed,.

A good and drunk guy with a gun should not be confused with a good guy with a gun.

People trained to carry concealed, aren't going to be the ones getting stupid drunk

Sure,They are immune to alcohol.
They have super powers,  like The Flash and Captain Marvel.

I realize you have a perverse ideological template to adhere to, which includes that any and all private gun owners are dangerous morons, especially those who "demand" that they be allowed to carry a firearm.

The reality however literally "shoots" that down, in that in this country, with the thousands upon thousands of civilians who have been cleared to carry a concealed weapon, how come you don't hear of any of these folks going postal, and shooting up some location??  It's because the vast majority of these law abiding citizens are responsible, and recognize the respsonsibility that comes with owning and carrying a firearm.

So while we can speculate that no one is immune from alcohol's pull, the person who's been deemed legal to carry a firearm is going to be the last one to ever get so reckless as to get stupid drunk.

It only takes on drunk with a gun to kill someone.
Your idea that people who have taken maybe four hours of instruction makes them Dudley Do-Right is moronic.

He should never have been allowed to be a gun owner.
That is the problem.

And one more time, reality debunks that nonsense, since people with CCW's routinely take hundreds of hours of instruction and practice.  It comes with the knowledge that responsibility and safety is priority 1 when carrying a firearm.  And many of those join organizations to attempt to perfect their training and practice in handling a firearm, under stressful situations

So no, your notion that CCW carriers are nothing but barely trained low hanging fruit, being pulled by the power of a gun and the spark of booze, is defied by reality and facts to the contrary

Based on what?  That he was a Muslim??  Are you trying to make Trump's case, for him?

What exactly did law enforcement and the Government screw up, that should have prevented this Islamic terrorist from carrying out his murderous attack?

HUNDREDS of HOURS.

Puh-leeze!

What exactly did law enforcement and the Government screw up, that should have prevented this Islamic terrorist from carrying out his murderous attack?

They investigated him, found that he was somewhat unbalanced and a hater.
They should have made it illegal for him to buy7 those guns.

Are you going to sit there with your teeth in your mouth and tell me he should have been sold those guns?

HUNDREDS of HOURS.

Puh-leeze!

Yea, HUNDREDS.  I've lost track of the years of practice I've been perfrming while a member of the IDPA, where we meet every other month.  That's what RESPONSIBLE gun owners do.

What exactly did law enforcement and the Government screw up, that should have prevented this Islamic terrorist from carrying out his murderous attack?

They investigated him, found that he was somewhat unbalanced and a hater.

'Somewhat unbalanced"?...Hater?  When was that official conclusion made, and by whom?

They should have made it illegal for him to buy those guns.  Are you going to sit there with your teeth in your mouth and tell me he should have been sold those guns?

I need to see what exactly was done and concluded in this investigation you're referring to, by whom, and when it was done.  To deny a U.S citizen a Constitional right requires something serious to justify that denial.  So far, all I'm aware of is that he's Muslim.  That's not enough.  We can play monday morning quarterback all day long, but none of us have the gift of being able to tell the future.  So, you're going to have to do better than some vague reference to "somewhat unbalanced"

I do not have to do anything. I cannot do anything. I do not have the power to keep this maniac from buying guns, but someone did, and that person (NOT ME) failed.

Of course you don't have to do anything.  You can leave your unsubstantiated opinion completely invalid, as in no back-up.  Sorry, your word carries no weight.  This has nothing to do with some Marvel power to keep people from getting guns....this goes to specifically your claim that THIS American born Muslim should have been barred from getting a gun in the 1st place.

And again, based on what??

You threw out a vague reference to "somewhat unbalanced", whatever the hell that's supposed to mean, by some apparent investigation, by someone(s), at sometime.  That just has no legs in depriving a person their Constitutional rights.  He purchased his firearms legally, went thru all the mandated background checks.  Did everything that the left demands.  So, the Government screwed up, if they missed something (the same ones running our healthcare currently, but that's for another thread).  So.....what exactly did they miss, and when??

They missed that he was a deranged psychopath.
They missed it too late.

And how exactly were they supposed to catch that, before the derranged act??  You realize we're talking about the Government now.  How badly are you planning on trashing that entity you hold so dear?

I live in Florida . The state government is awful, run by thieves and ignorant  opportunists like Marco Rubio and Rick Scott.
I do not hold the government here dear.

Probably by watching everyone very closely .

Thanks madmen, we will all be suspect of madness and examined frequently just because fewer than one in a million of us is as mad as this.
