Title: The Wall
Post by: Plane on September 27, 2016, 12:02:26 AM
Should we hire Chinese or Israeli wall builders?

The Chinese Wall did not keep out the Mongols. The Manchu Dynasty was composed of the people the Chinese were trying to keep out.

Israel is puny. And the Israelis built the wall to keep out bombers in suicide vests. Trump's Wall will NEVER be built and who won't build it is even more certain.

The Chinese Wall did not keep out the Mongols.

And Hadrian's wall didn't keep the Picts out forever , but a delay of two or three centuries isn't nothing.

There is no real comparison between a wall to keep out invading armies and one to keep out individual jobseekers.

There will be no Wall, anyway. It is just a  Trump ploy. like his birther crap. Crap he spews to raise the rabble.

No one is spewing the birther crap, except for desperate leftists

Trump spent at least three years spewing birther crap. And his new crap is the Wall crap.

He hasn't spewed that for over at least 2 years.  And a wall is absolutely a credible action to take.  Nothing spewage about it.

I'm going with Plane's take.....let's hire the Israelis

The Donalsd spewed about birtherism this January.
And there will be no wall.
No. Wall.

They might extend a fence.
And they won't hire any Israelis, either.

Sorry, your word/accusations have no credibility here.  In what context did he "spew"?  Did HE bring it up, or was it asked of him??  And what was his answer??

If all we have is your say so, that'd be the same as if it didn't happen

And many a Conservative didn't believe there would be an Obamination care.  Needless to say, if we have a Trump Presidency and a GOP majority, we'll have a wall built

As far as the israelis building it, I was simply anwering Plane's Hypothetical.  I have no problem with Americans buidling it

I guess we could have it made in America, but since it is going to be paid for by Mexicans we should at least let them bid on it.

The Great Wall of China was huge and sophisticated , but it depended on having a garrison of troops adequate to prevent breeching.

When we build a wall it may increase the difficulty faced by the invading army of jobseekers but the success of the thing would depend a lot on adequate manning.

Ladders made in Mexico could be enough for a crossing otherwise.

The discussion of the Wall is like the discussion of secession: it is moot. There will be no wall, there will be no secession.

Not even close.  It has an absolute plausibility, if Trump wins, and the GOP maintains majority control of Congress

Why will there be no wall?

I can't see it growing less popular even if Hillary wins, why would it be anything less than feasible?

i thought the wall was made for political reason . it distracted the population for being annoyed with the government. remember with a population that large exactly how does one control them. it`s not like the government was beneficial.

It's something both tangible & credible at decreasing the rate of illegal immigration

Then why isn't it built already?

There is plenty of annoyance.

And who exactly wants the wall- -compared to who is annoyed with the government?

The Wall would not stop illegals from entering this country.
It would not only cost a huge fortune to build, it would require maintenance that would also cost a fortune. A 2000 mile wall would require major expenditures.

It's not supposed to "stop", simply make it harder, thus less incentive to even try.  Every program requires some form of maintenance, and a wall requires very little

Point being its absolutely a credible & plausible campaign pledge that can be accomplished, ... if Trump wins & the GOP maintains majority control of Congress

You are totally right it would not be enough.

Doubling size of the Coast guard and finding better ways to keep up with over extended visas would also be good to do.

"Enough" is exactly the question, the expense and trouble it takes to make our country entirely impenetrable is  probably too much, extra expenses like that helped handicap the Soviet Union.

But if a number of people that amount to more than several of our small states come and go without permission , we are definitely not doing enough yet and a little more spending is warranted.
