The best are hebrew national, but Carolina pride makes a good dog.

I pan fry them and then nuke some cheese in the bun and top with onions and baked beans.

Sabrett's or Nathan's are the best, but hard to find outside the NY metro area. Carolina Pride is good, so is Gwaltney.

Sounds good. If you get Sabrett's or Nathan's you should simmer them in a pan of water, though.

It's about quality of life, not quantity.

I can see that. What are you going to do? Eat rice cakes three times a day?

Sabrett's are the best. Nathan's are a close second. And no one else is very close to them.

what`s the best way to cook them?
I like steaming them
I use a metal rack in a pot with a inch of water

Sabrett's and Nathan's should be cooked in a frying pan with a shallow layer of water and simmered. It's a plus if you can get the Sabrett's spicy cooked onions to go along with 'em.

Nuking most hotdogs is good enough (tastes about the same as steaming, with less fuss). Grilling the larger ones (Ball Park, et al, along with most sausages) is good as well.

I agree. Neither Sabrett's nor Nathan's do well on the grill.

Add Ball Parks Grillmasters to the list. Served them for the 4th. Everybody raved.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm doing a cookout tomorrow, and I had picked up a pack of those.

One word Ami (and being as you lived in Minnesota, you should know this!):

Brats!

Brats!

Good ones are hard to find. But really, you need a variety of sausages to make it through life. ;-)

And Wisconsin is more into sausages than Minnesota. Wisconsin == Germans, Minnesota == Norwegians & Swedes.

True enough, but I figured with the proximity thing and all.

And ditto on the sausage variety thing (definitely in a non-sexual way)!
