Why doesn't California have the fortitude to ban tanning beds altogether if they are so dangerous.
You can get an abortion but not a tan, kid

California continues to be an embarrassment to the other 49 states. The state government now bans people from using tanning beds until they are 18. But minors will continue to be able to have abortions without the permission ? or even knowledge ? of their parents. So much for my body, my choice.
From Reuters: ?Minors in the state of California will no longer be allowed to use tanning beds after Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill on Sunday prohibiting anyone under the age of 18 from using ultraviolet tanning devices. California is the first state in the nation to ban minors from using tanning beds, legislators said.?
The law takes effect on January 1.
I suppose we can now call it the not-so-golden state.
Before, kids 14-18 could use a tanning bed. I wonder if this applies to families that have tanning beds of their own. I wonder if anyone will dare to challenge this idiocy in court.
Maybe California will do with tans what it does with pot and allow for medical tanning.
Frankly, I think we ought to stop the government from passing any law that is designed to protect our health. Governments are supposed to protect our rights, not our health.

When I was in the Navy I met Iranians pretty often.
The Iranian Navy was US equipped and their sailors came to our Navy schools for everything from cooking to welding.
They seemed like normal people, allowing for their being sailors.
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER:
"The vice president of the United States should never say about a policy as immoral as that
"I understand."
This is one of the failings of this administration. Yes, we cannot do anything about China's one-child policy. We cannot unilaterally change the regime in Syria and Iran. But this administration simply refuses to speak out on the basic fundamental moral issues on which all Americans are united. It is a scandal to say, "We understand."
The number of forced abortions in China as a result of this, the misery and essentially the torture that people have felt having to destroy a child, even infanticide, as a result of this is simply outrageous. And for a vice president to say he understands is essentially to negate, even to betray our values.
Why?
I don't *like* it, but as said in this thread, famine is the alternative.
here's just one of many
BREAKING NEWS: President Obama has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as "Bush's Fault". Obama also announced that the Secret Service and Maxine Waters continues an investigation of the quake's suspicious ties to the Tea Party. Conservatives however have proven that it was caused by the founding fathers rolling over in their graves.
DISGRACEFUL!
I see where one of the authors does work for NASA, and i see where it was published in Acta Astronautica, but i don't see where NASA commissioned the work, so maybe the Guardian misled a bit. If so, my bad.
As always the MSM (including the Onion) gets it wrong. It was not McConnell who wanted to postpone Obama's birthday right before the election in 2012. It was Obama who was willing to put SS, Medicare and Vets on the cutting table in order to avoid the negative publicity and sink in the poll numbers as his longevity ( and who knows for sure what that number really is - see birthers) and leadership are called in to question each year at the beginning of August.
He picked his nose.Sick!
