I'll second that.

It causes a euphoric effect that triggers dopamine, the chemical that controls pleasure in the brain.

All I can say is they'd best not get between me & my Cokes.

After all the financial arrangements, my first purchase for myself would be a Tempurpedic bed.  An annual contribution to a local charity that I was involved in at one time would be in order. Then, I'd set up a college fund for my new grandson and indulge in gifts for family and friends...and maybe do some travelling.

The bad news: Florida (along with California) is among the states with the highest number of foreclosed properties in the nation. Realty Trac reports 1 in every 624 homeowners received a foreclosure notice in 2011, and this of course is only the tip of the distressed property iceberg, which indicates home values, and the economy in general, might not be done tanking.

The good news:  kids are learning to steer the boat– at least one kid, 14-year old Willow Tufano. Because instead of using her $6,000 savings to buy the latest iPad, Willow bought herself a distressed property. And now she’s renting it out.

Perhaps for some individuals, it removes the desire to rape women.

Doubtful. Rape has more to do with a desire for power and/control than for sex.

3DHS / 10-year-old discovers new molecule during science class
« on: March 01, 2012, 12:25:17 AM »
Are you smarter than a fifth grader? Now is probably the most appropriate time to ask yourself that. A girl named Clara Lazen recently discovered a previously unknown molecule — and she hasn't even graduated from grade school yet.

Clara's fifth-grade teacher, Ken Boehr, handed his students molecule model building toys during science class one day. The curious 10-year-old built a model that she thought looked stable with atoms that fit together perfectly, not knowing that nobody had ever thought of it before.

Intrigued by the model his student built, Boehr snapped some pictures of it and sent them to his college friend, Robert Zoellner, who's now a chemistry professor at Humboldt State University in California. Upon further inspection, Zoellner determined that the molecule was indeed a new discovery. He dubbed it tetranitratoxycarbon, and wrote a research paper on it that was just published in a major journal called Computational and Theoretical Chemistry. Clara, who's probably never heard of the journal before, was named one of his co-authors.

Nobody knows what the molecule can actually do — it's something that we'll find out if and when a chemist succeeds in synthesizing it. But while Zoellner is still wondering whether it could store energy or create large explosions, Clara's already thinking of what she can do with it: "I could sell this to the military for money."

Lol....thanks, guys.

I can't guarantee that I'll post much but I do need to get myself back into shape in terms of understanding more about current events - and Debategate was always the best place for that.

Thanks...I've been lurking now and then but mostly devoting time to family.  It's good to see there are still some loyal followers here. Funny how the issues and arguments haven't seemed to change at all over the years. I guess it's true that the older we get, the more set we are in our ways.

Thanks, guys.  I didn't go very far....I've been reading all along, although admittedly not reading quite as often as I used to.

The funny thing is that you could take many of the posts and remove the date; it wouldn't matter because all of the same topics are being micro-analyzed for meaning, intent, and future ramifications.

I've also noted that Personal Posting Style (PPS) has remained consistent, with many members holding steadfastly to the mindset of "I don't care what you say or how logically you say it, I'm right and you're wrong. Plus you're an idiot and your mother wears Army boots."

Yeah...it's good to be home.

For some reason, I've never been too worried about zombies.  I mean, it's not like they're capable of setting any land speed records.  When you think about it, it's almost cruel...I just picture letting them get close and then moving out of their reach, over and over.  "Oh, so close! Good try!!"

And speaking of zombies, this is a very interesting movie: Fido - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457572/

I can see his point about Limbaugh, who believes himself to be the voice of mainstream conservatism.  And because he makes himself heard, the left has come to believe that he is representative of all conservatives.

He doesn't speak for me, as I'm sure some of the far left radio show hosts I listen in astonishment don't speak for the mainstream liberals.

At least I hope not.  Gawd.

3DHS / Re: Covering (Up) Obama

From the link that Religious Dick posted:

Quote
Conclusion: Neither of the two brief stories from KHQA were important at the time they were filed. Both were just brief notices that what would normally be happening after Obama's win was happening. If you're going to be President, you have to resign the Senate and the Gov. gets to appoint your replacement. As President-elect you are going to want to have a say in that. And you will, to a point, get it.

This is what I'm curious about: whoever the Obama advisor is, you'd think he/she would have found a way to keep Obama away from Blagojevich.   Given the guy's reputation, he's got to be like poison to everyone who's got any sense.  And it makes me wonder if whoever tipped off the investigation that Blagojevich was really going nuts with his plans was someone who also could have warned Obama to stay away from him.  If I remember correctly, the dates of some of the taped phone conversations coincide with the dates of the "disappeared" news articles, so the timing is interesting there.
