Identifying the existence of security vulnerabilities and understanding the techniques used by attackers to exploit them, is becoming one of the greatest challenges facing all organisations.

Vulnerabilities are by their very nature ubiquitous, and, contrary to some believes, are inherent within both private and publicly available software.

It is because of this reason that Computer Terrorism (UK) has established a dedicated team of vulnerability specialists whose sole purpose is to continuously research, quantify and advise on the latest digital threats.

Working closely with Vendors and their respective clients, our researches have helped foster the elimination of many High Risk vulnerabilities, and actively contribute responsibly to the worldwide vulnerability scene.

FISA is a modern, flexible statute that allows the government to conduct electronic surveillance on Americans.  As the record in our Committee has made clear, FISA is a vital tool for the FBI, the CIA, and the NSA in their investigations of terrorism and espionage. The FISA system isn’t perfect.  Its implementation within the Executive Branch can be streamlined, and Congress could clarify its intent with minor changes.

I like the way she puts it.
An excited examination of this issue might be politicly advantagious to Republicans but serious work needs to happen whether there is political advantage or not .

JALALABAD, Afghanistan - With profits from this spring's record opium crop fueling a broad Taliban offensive, Afghan authorities say they are considering a once unthinkable way to deal with the scourge: spraying poppy fields with herbicide.

I severely do not like this , there is a demand for this stuff to attack on the other end , are we doing what we can there?

What are the real alternatives?

Searching every truck that rolls into Europe?

Searching every ship that sails in the Indian Ocean?

Locking up everyone that fails to pass a drug test all over Europe and America?

Spraying these crops sounds less desprate and severe than these measures , but only because it won't be happening to us.

How about decrimanaliseing the drugs and makeing them too cheap to be worth smuggleing?

How about sneaking a potent poison into the crop that has addicts all turn plad?

If it is alright to spray these feilds with poison that will cause the farmers to starve , lots of equally severe things ought to be considered.

"We pick up stray animals and spay them," Larry Shirley said in a story published Saturday by The Post and Courier of Charleston. "These mothers need to be spayed if they can't take care of theirs. Once they have a child and it's running the street, to let them continue to have children is totally unacceptable."

One of the most expensive and precice instruments ever made is beginning to shut itself down .

Some of the most beautifullPictures I have ever seen and some of the most intresting new learning have been the result of the Hubble system , it has been our deepest ever look into deep space and the deep past.

EPILEPSY TREATMENT
Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have engineered
a device that can detect the onset of epileptic seizures and help
prevent those seizures from becoming debilitating. The device was
developed for the 1-in-3 patients who do not respond to drugs. A
defibrillator called a vagus nerve stimulator (VNS) is implanted under
a patient’s collarbone and stimulates the left vagus nerve every five
minutes. Stimulation of this nerve has been shown to help reduce the
frequency and severity of seizures.

Via a microprocessor, the VNS receives signals from a network of
electrodes in a bathing-cap-like garment worn by the patient. The
electrodes monitor brain activity for signs of an epileptic event. The
electrodes themselves can be used independently and without a VNS,
acting as an early warning system for patients who do not require the
defibrillator.

Iranian leader defends controversial stands

Washington Post: In a feisty session with leading foreign policy experts, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defiantly stuck to his hard-line positions on issues including Iran's nuclear program and a need for further study to confirm the Holocaust.

Figure 2
 How TMS Therapy Works
The short pulses of magnetic energy produced by NeuroStar TMS Therapy Systemâ„¢ are aimed by the treating clinician at the structures in the brain thought to control mood. (See Figure 1, Limbic System Structures, many of which are thought to be involved in mood regulation). The left prefrontal cortex (Figure 2) is used to access these structures non-invasively from outside the brain with TMS Therapy. The unique nature of magnetic fields allows them to pass through the skull and into the cortex without being distorted in any way. This facilitates a very focal type of stimulation, minimizing stimulation of brain tissue not involved in mood.

Ok this does not hurt , but it is so unfair , imagine haveing the parts of your brain that are enableing you to resist questioning being temporailily shut down.

In the near future , it will become impossible to lie, to keep a secret  or even keep silent when interrogated.

Imagine "Cool hand Luke"
but give the guy in the silver glasses a door into Lukes Skull.

We are getting there , and when we get there we might miss the torture.

Yet, despite the accumulation of vast amounts of factual knowledge about the brain (about 10 ,000 papers are presented every year at the Society for Neuroscience meetings) even the most BASIC questions about our minds remain unanswered. What is the will? What is the " self"? Why do I have the sense of a single person who endures through time and space ? What is consciousness? Why do we laugh-make rhythmic head movements and vocalizations in certain situations? Why do we cry ? ( Why the salty liquid flowing down my cheeks?) Why do we dance? What is the meaning of art? Why music? Why do we dream? Why do we even sleep?
But I will venture the prediction that all this will change in the next hundred years. By asking the right kinds of questions and doing the right kinds of experiments we can begin to answer these lofty questions which have until now remained the preoccupation of philosophers.

One of the newest avenues of research into the mind-body relationship has nothing to do with religious ritual, ethnobotany, or tinkering with brain chemistry. It's about altering the way the brain behaves on the most basic level -- the electrical impulses that constantly stream from neuron to neuron.
http://www.erowid.org/tech/devices_article1.shtml

Transcranial magnetic stimulation is safe and noninvasive means of getting electrical energy across the insulating tissues of the head and into the brain. A powerful and rapidly changing electrical current is passed through a coil of wire applied near the head. The magnetic field, oriented perpendicular to the plane of the coil passes virtually unimpeded through the scalp and skull. In the brain, the magnetic field produces currents in the induced electrical field lying parallel to the plane of the coil.

These currents are able to excite axons lying in the plane of the induced field in a manner roughly analogous to direct cortical stimulation with electrodes.

TMS has been used as a probe of cortical cortical function in clinical and basic neurophysiology and as a means of altering cortical function. There is evidence that some effects of repetitive TMS (rTMS) may be of benefit in brain disorders, for instance, depression.

Best case I have ever seen for keeping the Electorial College.

If this guy is right , as soon as we loose it minoritys will miss it.
