3DHS / Turnout

Is it good to have the maximum number of people feel that they matter and are involved?

Is it good to have all the most ignorant and apathetic exert their influence ?

Sure a high turnout is expensive and inconvenient and prone to elect the least common denominator, but it is good for the democracy overall. The people get used to exercise of the franchise and feel more involved , more invested more motivated to understand the issues and evaluate the service of the elected.

Cities with big populations ought to be prepared for full turnout, when there is less than expected this causes waste, but when turnout is a lot higher than anticipated the waste of people standing in line for extended waits is a much greater waste. There ought to be a penalty placed on a municipality entity responsible for excessive wait in these lines.

What if the State or county were assessed minimum wage to pay to everyone that had a longer than three hour wait?

Outcheating the Democrats would be a very hollow victory.

On the lighter side, voter ID requirements turn out to be a dismal failure as obstructions to minority voters, who would have thought?

Hillary's response to pipeline protest.

Quote
We received a letter today from representatives of the tribes protesting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. From the beginning of this campaign, Secretary Clinton has been clear that she thinks all voices should be heard and all views considered in federal infrastructure projects. Now, all of the parties involved—including the federal government, the pipeline company and contractors, the state of North Dakota, and the tribes—need to find a path forward that serves the broadest public interest. As that happens, it's important that on the ground in North Dakota, everyone respects demonstrators' rights to protest peacefully, and workers' rights to do their jobs safely.

As fewer and fewer people make themselves available for answering polls, polls become less dependable.

Quote
In 1997, 36% of households sampled agreed to participate in a poll, according to the Pew Research Center. Now it is 9%. This means thousands more calls must be made for a telephone survey to reach a sufficient sample.

"The Most powerful military"
"The most innovative engineers"
"The Most enduring values"
"The most dynamic and diverse people"

Our military is being shrunk and used hard. It doesn't have the strength it did in 2008, which was reduced already from where it was in 1986.

Out youngest engineers are being graduated with crushing debt, worse and worse they must work off these debts before they can operate independently or work for themselves, this is a barrier to innovation , invisible but real.

The Judeo-Christian ethic?

The People of America are changing , but hardly fast enough for Hillary Clinton , who thinks we need re-educating or replacement.

Pretty strong anti- Hillary program.

I don't agree with every part , but there are a lot of good ones.

This really brings up the question ," Why Hillary in the first place?".  She obviously is keen on herself , but what brought the leadership of the Democratic party so much behind her that they would eschew democracy to have her lead?

I don't see either of these people staying near the truth.

In the comparison of misunderstanding, emotional tripe and outright lies , we will choose a leader?

Because we do not really need to cross national borders to find Tax Havens. Crossing a state border is enough to shelter a lot of taxes.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/apr/25/delaware-tax-loophole-1209-north-orange-trump-clinton

As it turns out , Hillary and Trump both  have shell companies sheltering a lot of money from taxation in Delaware, and both are mail drops in this building .

This is not a huge coincidence this building has hundreds of persons and corporations using this as a tax dodge.

So Trump is smart to pay few taxes , and Hillary is also the same sort of smart.

IN Europe there were dozens of political careers interrupted when shell companies in Panama were discovered hiding the money of prominent people from taxes.

I don't see Americans getting that sort of outraged at Trump or Clinton.

..................she dismissed half of Mr. Trump’s followers as “racist, sexist, homophobic.” Less well noted (but more telling), she also declared them “irredeemable.”

This is an old argument for the left. But Republicans are now hearing it from the right as well. Which puts conservative Never Trumpers in a curious position vis-à-vis government of, by and for the people: Are the tens of millions of Americans who will pull the lever for Trump come November evil too, or just invincibly stupid?

.
Give the Never Trumpers their due: Most do not shy away from the implication that anyone who would vote for Mr. Trump is as low and base as he is. Their problem is that the argument doesn’t seem to be having much traction with Republican voters. A Rasmussen poll released Monday found that while Mrs. Clinton enjoys the support of 78% of Democrats, Mr. Trump is supported by 74% of Republicans. Other polls show that even after all his fumbles and embarrassments, the vast majority of Republicans do not want Mr. Trump to drop out..........

This is a pretty good short article about the attitude of the elite twards the Hoi Poloi as it seems to be right now.

I still count myself undecided , because I never have cared for Trump, but it is hard to pass up a chance at putting a thumb in the eye of the geniuses that are running the major parties into the ground and paying no attention to the will of the people at all.

Hillary seems to want to change our attitude , if not by reeducation then by replacement.

Trump is rude , but he seems like much less of a threat .
