Guillen: Asians privileged, Latinos not (AP)

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen thinks Asian players are given privileges in the United States that Latinos are not afforded. In his latest rant, the outspoken Guillen also said he's the "only one" in baseball teaching young players from Latin America to stay away from performance-enhancing drugs and that Major League Baseball doesn't care about that.

Rays' Shields shuts down A-Rod, Yankees (AP)

James Shields picked a nice time to deliver his best performance of the season. The Tampa Bay right-hander worked into the eighth inning Sunday to outpitch CC Sabathia, prolong Alex Rodriguez's quest for his 600th homer and help the Rays beat the New York Yankees 3-0. "It was one of my better games, no doubt about it," Shields said after allowing four hits, walking one and striking...

We Can't Afford the Bush Tax Cuts

 Fareed Zakaria, Newsweek
For the last few months, we have heard powerful, passionate arguments about the need to cut America's massive budget deficit. Republican senators have claimed that we are in danger of permanently crippling the economy. Conservative economists and pundits warn of a Greece-like crisis, when America can borrow only at exorbitant interest rates. So when an opportunity presents itself to cut those deficits by about a third"”more than $300 billion!"”permanently and relatively easily, you would think that these very people would be in the lead. The Soak-the-Rich Catch-22

 Arthur Laffer, Wall Street Journal
Tax reduction thus sets off a process that can bring gains for everyone, gains won by marshalling resources that would otherwise stand idle—workers without jobs and farm and factory capacity without markets. Let me make clear why, in today's economy, fiscal prudence and responsibility call for tax reduction even if it temporarily enlarged the federal deficit—why reducing taxes...

The Australian player birdied the final three holes with putts of 15 feet or less to win the tournament by a stroke and get down to 59.
