Actually Steven Baldwin mentioned this device about two weeks ago when he called RUSH's show. Baldwin said Kevin Costner is working real hard to get this units out there to contain the oil spill. you need to read for comprehension. No it wasn't Rush's idea but Steven Baldwin called his show about it. that's how I heard about it before you or your president heard about it. I'm not an ass, you are the ass who happens to post stale information claiming it's new NEWS but I heard about this 12 days ago on the Rush Limbaugh show who you bashed just yesterday, yet Rush knows more than you or your president.

yeah that's a no brainer that people that would deploy this unit knew about it before Rush, yet Rush & I knew about it before Obama. Unless Obama has known about it and is dragging his feet. So when did the president know about it, how long has he known about it and how much longer will he drag his feet to deploy it? Certainly the governor of Louisiana has known about it for some time now. If only the federal government red tape could be cleared to deploy these units. It was treated as an oddball twist in the otherwise wrenching saga of the BP oil spill  when Kevin Costner stepped forward to promote a device he said could work wonders in containing the spill's damage. But as Henry Fountain explains in the New York Times, the gadget in question — an oil-separating centrifuge — marks a major breakthrough in spill cleanup technology. And BP, after trial runs with the device, is ordering 32 more of the Costner-endorsed centrifuges to aid the Gulf cleanup.

The "Waterworld" actor has invested some $26 million and spent the past 10 years in developing the centrifuges. He helped found a manufacturing company, Ocean Therapy Solutions, to advance his brother's research in spill cleanup technology. In testimony before Congress this month, Costner walked through the device's operation—explaining how it spins oil-contaminated water at a rapid speed, so as to separate out the oil and capture it in a containment tank:

When oil comes from most oil wells, it is mixed with water. The gas that is present in most wells provides enough pressure to mix up all the stuff that has been lying dormant all that time.

Perhaps a centrifuge is more useful to separate the seawater and dispersant mix from the spill, but the oil industry has been separating oil and water for a long, long time.
