HPV vaccine in Britain

From this article, it looks like the NHS is  thinking that this one vaccine will make it so they don't have to do any pap smears ever again.
WRONG.   HPV isn't the only thing that causes cancer; pap smears will still be necessary and must be done.
And people worry if 12 is to young?   From what I've seen, it may well be too old.

Anyway, interesting article.

"The main obstacle for the government could be financial - three doses cost the NHS £241.50, ..."

I guess this must be near seven hundred Dollars.

I guess that the saveings would show up a decade or more later when the cervical cancer rate would begin to decline.

Still seems like a good bargan.

Oh yes, it is a good bargain.

This is what I was referring to...
'......is now studying proposals for an NHS-funded mass vaccination scheme which would eventually replace the current screening programme under which women are summoned for smear tests every three years to check for early signs of cancer.'

The problem is, HPV is not the only cause of cancer in women.   Other reasons exist to do yearly or every 3 year checks via pap smears.  I hope they are not short-sighted.
