Obama is about to "cut and run" & leave the Afghan people to the same
monsters that we deposed for their role in the Sept 11th attack on the United States.

For a VERY GRAPHIC view of who we are leaving the Afghan people to click the video below.

Warning: The video below is extremely graphic in nature.

If you choose to watch this video, you will see the Taliban
brutally execute more than a dozen bound Pakistani Policemen.
The Taliban then proceed to pump rounds into those who survived the initial firing

The goal of invading Afghanistan was to prevent Al Qaeda from using it as a base, then the goal has been accomplished. Bin Laden is gone, Al Qaeda has been greatly reduced as a threat.

It is pretty obvious that the US cannot afford to spend the next 30 years or so trying to turn Afghanistan into some sort of Muslim South Korea. Karzai is basically scum, and we can hardly dispose of him. Pakistan is where any real problem lies, and the US cannot invade Pakistan, which had nearly 80 million people.

As a military campaign, Afghanistan is unwinnable. We must leave. If McCain were president, that would still be the only sane course.

Iraq is a far more modern country than Afghanistan, Iraqis are mostly literate and mostly urban, nearly all speak a common language. Afghanis are mostly illiterate and mostly rural, and speak a large number of languages. The geography is a major factor in Afghanistan, as it is divided by mountain chains and bleak deserts.

There is not a lot in common between these countries, other than Islam.

I don't think that anyone planned for our stay in Iraq or Afganistan to be permanant.

If we don't leave now we will leave later, but must we wait for Al Queda and the Taliban to become no threat at all?

I think the measure should be taken and if we have done enough to give the people of Afganistan a fighting chance to have the will of the people respected , then we will have done enough.

If we can do a bit more and reasonably improve the situation, perhaps we should streatch our stay.

If there isn't a reasonable expectation that anything we are able to do will produce the desired result , then we have the other reason to leave.

I can see us leaving after their next election , not after ours.

Afghan elections are a joke, and therefore unimportant. We could not guarantee the fairness of the last election, I hardly think we can do it in the future, either.
