So, the next time Obama claims that.....
« on: December 17, 2011, 03:04:27 PM »
...he has the majority of the people agreeing that "The rich" need to pony up more in taxes, to pay "their far share" and help right this economic sinking ship, don't expect any reporter to politiely request some factual back-up, especially when you have polls that demonstrate:

74% of the people polled believe that it is at least somewhat important that the disparity between the rich and poor should be reduced. 8% are in favor of social mobility based on individual effort, and 94% believe that the government should strive to grow and expand the economy.

So a majority think that Government  should be a solution to problem rather than simply a problem in and of itself, and that the government should have no role in messing with the economy based on the view that no government can make anything better, only worse.

Sort of missed the part where there wasn't this supposed massive majority believed Government needed to bring the rich down, in order to fix the country, or for any reason for that matter.

Also missed the part where it wasn't a question on whether or not the government should intervene, so your effort to reference that the  "majority think that Government  should be a solution to problem rather than simply a problem", is kind of moot, since that wasn't asked

Nice try though

I think this survey does seem to indicate that there is a solid majority not prepared to object when the government intrudes where it shouldn't.

Which is why you have folks still electing Democrats and Rhinos to congress.  Point being, Obama is being far less than truthful when he claims he has the "American people" on his side when it comes to him wanting to tax "the rich", even more than they already are

I do not actually care whether you asked a question or not. You are oblivious to the issue. I am not. Ever4 since Reagan, Republicans think that the people should elect people that think that government cannot do anything right. That is like hiring a carpenter who thinks of a hammer only as a weapon. My goal is to address the actual issues, NOT to answer your stupid questions or whatever it is that you think I am supposed to answer.

Your own survey proves that you are wrong.

Would you want a carpenter who thought that a house should be solid wood? Walls thicker than the space left in the room?

A Carpenter that does his job well encloses space with the right amount of wood to make the walls strong and not much more. The usefull part of the house is the living space enclosed ,the expensive part is the enclosure.

Republicans feel as if we are being crouded out of the house by the thickness of the walls, and Democrats think that adding more wall is the solution to every problem.

I disagree. Republicans are simply shills for big business. Not one of them has actually shrunk the government or balanced the budget since Eisenhower.

The whole mantra that "government is the problem" is just stupid. Republicans mongering wars, putting troops in fifty or more bases around the world, refusing to allow medicare to negotiate drug prices, incompetent Republican government is a problem.

I can always tell when Xo is desperate, when he comes out with the insults, then tries to make a moot point, as the supposed issue

My goal is to address the actual issues, NOT to answer your stupid questions or whatever it is that you think I am supposed to answer.

Your goal of deflection is noted.  The actual issues, as per the point of this thread, was to demonstrate that Mr Obama does NOT have the support of some majority of the electorate in wanting to slap even higher taxes upon "the rich"

Your own survey proves that you are wrong.

Quite the contrary, I'm afraid

And the flailing just keeps coming.  Here's a recommendation, Xo.  If you can't refute any of the points being made, just spewing incoherent 3rd grade-level snarks, doesn't help your position at all.  It's actually better if you don't respond, and move to some other topic.  Garbage lile the above, does nothing to improve your credibility or advance the topic being discussed
