So you want the United States to also become a nation of 5 million people, 95% of which are white Evangelical Lutherans?

I am saying that there are things we could learn from Denmark. I am saying that poverty can and should be eliminated for the good of all. I am saying that Socialism actually has been shown to work quite well. Healthy is better than unhealthy. A middle class country is better than a country with a huge underclass and some megamillionaires. Educated is better than uneducated.

My point is that socialism might work quite nicely in a country with heterogeneous populations that are small enough and have enough in common to have a sense of a common good.

In a country of 300 million, composed of diverse ethnic and religious groups that frequently hate each other, that goes out of the window.

The problem of government has 2 components - the governed, and the government, and you have to consider the characteristics of both. New Hampshire or Wyoming might do well under a libertarian government, but who in their right mind wants to see a libertarian Detroit?

I do not think that church attendance is really a major factor in Denmark's success.

There is, however, a degree of rationality in the historical Danish approach to religion that is vastly different to the emotional and apocalyptical nature of Christianity in this country.

I have attended Lutheran churches. I sent my daughter to a Lutheran school for five years.

The Danes are nominal Lutherans, only 31% according to your Wikipedia listing, believe in God.

I would say that Danes are better Christians than many Americans in that they are for equality, justice, and brotherhood more than many Americans are. They mostly have no desire to nuke even Muslim countries as our friend "Christians" does, and they have much to be admired, especially the fact that they have universal health care, universal free education through grad school, and virtually no poverty.
