It is a cute picture, but hardly a political one, as the Tiananmin Square photo was.

Putin seems to have far more popularity with the Russian people than one would expect. He seems to understand the Russian people very well.

Putin is bloody awful from an American perspective, but Russians, especially ethnic Russians, see him differently. Russians do not see democracy as Americans do.
