are bullies heroes??
« on: June 13, 2012, 11:45:17 AM »
I was lookiong through netflix and saw a vid about a kid who got bullied and decided to lose weight. I just couldn`t help notice the bully aspect as the catalyst for this kid to help himself. it just doesn`t seem right that people acting as jerks should be credited for the positive change people get.

my question do we really needs these assholes to improve our lives?

That is a thought provoking question.

I have seen martial arts practioners doing amazing things, if they had never had need, perhaps they would never have attempted such exelence.

More generally, are lions the reason that gazells are lithe and fast, is a derth of cats the reason that the kiwi forgot how to fly?

Essentially, much military training is organized bullying: the recruits are called all sorts of names, demeaned in every way, humiliated in from of their peers and every attempt to remove their individuality is made. The idea is to "tear them down so they can be rebuilt as soldiers, MuhRINES, Rangers, Seals, Legionnaires, WaffenSS or whatever.

This has been going on for centuries. It clearly does produce toughened guys who will follow pretty much any order they are given.

The only question is whether the same results can be produced WITHOUT bullying.
