All the bow ties I have seen lately have been worn by Black Muslims selling "Mohammad Speaks". They did not looks so much stylish as dated.

Not as dated as the Pope's lacy pants and red shoes, though. True ultra-retro style takes time, LOTS of time. The Greek Church and the Russian Orthodox Church with their beards and the funny hats, all in basic black, seem to have an edge on the Pope. The beard makes the seniority and the venerable age of the holy dude a lot more obvious from a distance. The Pope's garb looks like something dreamed up for a Disney Princess flick.

Are they still around? Talk about bastardizing Islam.

I think that the Black Muslims changed their theology when Elijah Mohammad died and was NOT spirited away by space aliens with the rest of the faithful. He always taught that with the end of him there would be the End of Time, and such.

It is pretty hard to remain consistent when your theology gives a specific date for the End of the World and the date passes without the world ending. This has happened several times in history, nearly always with a change in theology and a continuance of the cult. The Jehovah's Witnesses are descended from a series of such unfulfilled prophesies.

In the case of the Black Muslims, the men in Black with the bowties persist.
