Combat is hardly the same thing. People are in motion, and generally, there are multiple individuals. This would be more like target shooting.

This is an essay on the training and accuracy of police, lots of interesting information.

I didn't realise that the police are most accurate at middle ranges, in close range the number of misses goes up a lot.

The Author complains that it is hard to tease data out of the availible information, but I think they did a good job considering that most police administrations don't have much motive to publish any misses at all.

Police in shooting situations generally do not do as well as this housewife.

Hope the tank is full upon your return.  Here's a heads-up....facts won't have changed.  In this country, guns still save more lives then they take.  Less violent crime in areas with more permissve gun laws compared to those that are far stricter ones.  Empirical evidence demonstrating that CCW laws lead to a decrease in the amount of gun deaths
