It is entirely true that the Islamic Brotherhood is unlikely to bring progress to Egypt so long as it defines everyone according to their religious beliefs.

It is NOT TRUE that the fastest growing religion in the West is Islam. The fastest growing attitude towards religion in the West is basically ignoring all established religions, and to not join any of them. Religions, naturally, do not consider dropouts, agnostics or atheists to even be in the comparison. though they clearly are.

It might be that one specific religion is the only true one, and all the others are in some way inferior, defective or totally unacceptable to God (or perhaps several gods). It could be true that NO religion meets with God's favor, or that God simply does not exist, or does not actually have any role or care about humans. But it is pretty clear that God (or gods) have never managed to convince everyone of the correctness of any single religion, so the sane thing to do is to simply leave the entire religious affiliation out of the equation, with obvious exceptions, like not appointing a rabbi to regulate pork bellies or a Hindu to be secretary of livestock.

This is not so much an internal problem of Islam as it is an internal problem in the Muslim Brotherhood's participation in Egyptian politics.

Islam is rather backward compared with the rest of the world, but The UAE and Qatar seem to have few problems of this sort.

You think that "none" is a religion?

I would agree that it is a religious choice.

How one defines "the west" is what makes this statement true or not, if you mean the western Hemisphere Christianity is growing best , If you mean the more developed part of Europe and North America then you may be correct, if the whole world weree considered then there is a real contest in the race between Muslims and their high birthrate and Christians and their common appeal.

China is loosing its faith in Communism by degrees , and whether their nascent Confuscinism or their burgioning Christianity and Islam become the dominating philosophy is a critical question to be resolved for the destiny of the worlds future.

The Chinese are not going to all become Christians, or Muslims. They are essentially Confuciusts. They will not subscribe in any large numbers to any exclusivist religion: not Islam, not Christianity, certainly not Judaism. Communism is not a religion and never has been one. Collectivism, on the other hand, is a basic Chinese belief, which comes from centuries of rice planting and community organization. Ancestors are revered by all Chinese. If you become a Christian, you are basically slapping your ancestors in the face. Christian conversion in any substantial numbers in China will fail just as the Cultural Revolution failed: people will not see their ancestors as inferiors to themselves. One can be collectivist without being a Maoist. The Chinese government spreads culture these days under a state run organization called the Confucius Institute.

Yes, "none" is clearly as much of a religious attitude as any denomination, religion or sect, just as "independent" is a political choice.
