http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2013/04/14/citizens_committee_for_the_right_to_keep_and_bear_arms_endorses_background.html Bi partizen opposition scuttled the Senate vote on the new gun controll bill.
Scuttling a major improvement in gun rights that could have been sneaked past snookered gun grabbers.
The increase in background checks was almost irrelivant , the present requirement for background checks is almost the same.
But for the sake of a few votes there could have been an admendment that would force all of the states to recognise a concieled carry permit issued by any state.
Almost had an admendment that would put ATF agents in jail for fifteen years if they attempted to keep records of background checks or tried to build an illeagal regestry of gun sales and ownership off the books.
This could have been pretty good , a real advance in gun rights imposed on those states that have the most stupid rules, but the NRA is too upfrount , too honest and too direct ......and represents far too many people.
In the future perhaps there can be better use of misdirection and misrepresentation for good reason and to get good things done.
