Nary a drop has fallen here in Miami. The flooded parts are up on the panhandle, abutting what is called the "Redneck Riviera": Alabama east of Mobile, through Gulf Shores and Orange Beach all the way to Destin, FL. These are a string of towns about three inches above sea level that get flooded out all the time. There is some interesting architecture in these houses, a lot of them built on stilts. It is a very nice place to visit when the Sun is shining, but even a hint of a hurricane or a big rainstorm and it is under water. Global Climate Change will strike here long before I have a beach in front of my house in Miami. I live about 12 miles inland.
The Realtors prefer to call the Redneck Riviera, "The Emerald Coast". If you have a pickup, you call it by the former name. If you have a Lexus, by the latter.
