What is a secret?
« on: July 01, 2014, 03:41:31 PM »

Yes , what is a justified secret?

It is pretty well famous that a lot of secrets are just covering the embarrassment of something stupid.

But some secrets are keeping people alive.

How does a nation control unreasonable secrecy , but still keep the ability to keep the secrets that it must?

on matter`s national I`m still trying to figure it out but on a personal general matter I`m kinda crazy paranoid. people`s definition of keeping a secret can be suspect. you pretty much need a check list of requirements before telling your closest friend. ex. some people think secrets has a expiration date ,other think it`s only a secret to certain people and think it`s ok to tell other people.

maybe that`s why our government has problems with secrets if the people itself don`t know how to keep a secret.

One of the things we have learned recently is that there are huge  numbers .

Secrets are being generated at a rate much higher than they can be reviewed by people competent to approve their release.

So "secret" becomes the default for all sorts of facts , by the ton.

When Assange published all those secrets, all we heard is how our American intelligence people had been put in grave danger. Soon, we were told, they would be dropping like flies.

So far NOT ONE such event has occurred. Many of the secrets were simply covering up dumb sh!t that the CIA and thje military did, like shooting news reporters in Iraq, knowing that they were unarmed and undangerous.

The CIA has not covered itself in glory much lately. They seem to have been oblivious to Russia planning to seize Crimea as well as the machinations of ISIS in Syria and Iraq. I think they have done this country more harm than goo, assassinating people and overthrowing elected governments again and again, thinking that their stiupid machinations would not return to bite them in the butt.
