European-American Unity and Rights Organization

Have you ever heard of this .org before?

How famous this organization is, and how common the knowledge is of its history ,makes a lot of difference to this story.

I didn't know about this bunch before reading this article , certainly not their dubious history, but that name might have made me suspicious, if I were really being cautious.

Is David Duke still alive? This article does not make this clear.

I would make a distinction between speaking to someone and agreeing with that one or group anyway.

The problem for me was that this fool claims that he had no idea of what the organization stood for.

Being a Republican legislator in Louisiana and claiming that you do not knwo what Dave Duke was all about is like living in Hollywood and not knowing that Mickey is a cartoon mouse.

Did you already know that David Duke had changed his organizations name?

This looks like a nasty fall into an unseen hole.

I have two things about it that make it look OK to me.

1) Talking to them does not imply agreement with them, didn't President Obama propose talking to Iran?
2)  This is a very ordinary mistake, if it is a mistake , it was malice on the part of the organization if they changed their name in order to trick whoever might not have gotten the word.

These 2 questions can apply to any and all similar issues, such as Obama & Rev Wright

A)  How long ago was this?

B)  Has the person in question denounced said person/organization, as soon as it was brought to light the person's/organization's agenda?

Plane is absolutely correct, that you can talk to anyone without supporting what they do.  Jesus made it a habit of trying to talk & open the eyes of sinners

And was this guy lecturing them on how they should stop being racists?

This is a rather stupid flap, just as all the hate I see about Al Sharpton on this Forum are stupid flaps.

I don't know.
Neither this author nor I seemed to think on the speech given.

That is a good point though, the subject and tenor of his speech should indeed be the most important consideration.

If he were spending a lot of time congratulating his audience on being patriotic this might be worse.

Or if he was praising tolerance and fellowship he ought to be getting a" profiles in courage "award.

More likely he gave his standard stump speech , most of these guys give the same speech over and over till they are saying it in their sleep.  Did you see Robert Redford do this ?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!

I suppose that after a certain number of audiences it is all just a blur.

Hehehehe

This is better than the usual gaffe.
