Hnumpah...question about CCW's
« on: July 27, 2015, 03:23:48 PM »
Do you think the country needs to make it harder to acquire a CCW, leave it up the individual states, or make it easier for the law abiding who have effectively passed all background checks?

Just curious

(and no, xo, that doesn't mean everyone should be packing a roscoe)

I think it should be left up to the individual states, with the provision that there is reciprocity between the states; meaning if I am legally licensed in Florida, it should be recognized in Georgia, New York, California, or any other state I might travel to. This would probably require a federal statute directing the states to do so.

So, pretty much what they do now, although not every state recognizes reciprocity, which I would also support.  Thanks for the input.  Something I can look towards in a campaign pledge, although pledges from politicians these days are as credible as a starting pitcher hitting .400 for the season

I'm sure there are, like national security, the debt, border security, out of control immigration policies, overt Government regulations, etc., etc,. etc.  But you won't mind that I be allowed to ask H a serious question, minus your standard deflective hyperbole.

Unless of course, you just can't help yourself

I don't carry mine on my hip, I have a shoulder rig, or a small of the back holster. And do bear in mind, there are differing opinions as to what issues are important to different people, and the order of their importance. We don't all march to the beat of only your drum.

are you carrying a snub-nose or a small caliber like a 380?

While I do have a shoulder set up, and it does have its positives, especially when driving, I really do like that small of the back holster.  Perhaps not as fast, but very concealable, with no jacket or vest required

Sig P228 is my carry choice, though I also have Taurus PT911.  Both 9MM

I also appreciate seeing more TV shows where characters are demonstrating proper handling of a firearm, & not just law enforcement.  Drives me nuts to watch some actor portraying the FBI or Police officer carrying the weapon up by their head, with their finger on the trigger

My favorite, when I was toting cash or drugs as a courier, was the Trooper and a couple of speedloaders, that is the one I use the shoulder rig for. I used to use it to shoot competition years ago, and it has always been my favorite. Out in public, the S&W is easier to conceal. The M39 has a smaller magazine capacity than most newer 9mm's, so I carry a couple of spares. It's an older model handgun but has always been dependable for me.

Sweet    8)   Yea, I do like the older models myself as well.  I was one of the 1st to get a S&W Sigma, with its 17rd mag.  It was S&W's Glock want-to-be, and while it looked impressive, I found it jammed too many times to be acceptable for carry.  Plus it was larger than most of your more compact 9MM's, so I ended up trading it in for the Taurus.  The Sig was my 1st pistol, and still my bread & butter
