Most drugs only lose potency as the age. As a rule, doctors prescribe more than is really needed to treat the ailment, kill the germs, or whatever. I don't think they are many drugs that become poisonous if they are too old.
Old out of date aspirin has a strong smell. I don't know whether it is harmful, but Aspirin is available and cheap, and so there is no reason to risk taking it.
Fruit juice, on the other hand, is definitely something you want to avoid if it is spoiled. I drank a bit of mango juice to wash down a pill. It tasted only slightly strange, but it gave me a stomach ache that lasted several hours.
