And The Donald was standing behind one, reading the script that Ryan wrote for him.

Weak.

There is nothing wrong with teleprompters.

You could make fun of painters with rollers or spray guns instead of brushes as well.

Did Goya favor a roller or a spray gun?

Goya was not a house painter. Rollers and spray guns had not been invented.
He did some huge paintings and used some gigantic brushes. He covered entire walls of his house in dark paintings.

I fail to see what this has to do with teleprompters.

So what Obama is doing is not fine work?

He is the kind of painter that does barns.

His speeches reflect his intellect, as long as the teleprompter is up.

Obama is a great speaker, and more original that JFK for sure. I don't think JFK wrote even one major speech. Reagan wrote exactly zero.

The teleprompter simply allows the speaker to deliver the speech in a more effective manner

Apparently you do not know Reagan any better than you know Obama.

Reagan could speak off the cuff, or deliver moving speeches that he had written with his team before crowds on cliffs in studios etc...

The People who accused him of being a poor thinker simply invented the whole idea.

When President Obama speaks from his heart ,.....

well, you fill in that blank.

When Reagan spoke off the cuff, he revealed tha6t he did not know shit.  He did NOT make any worthwhile speeches off the cuff: he wandered around and hemmed and hawed and revealed that he did not know diddly.

I was there, I heard his crap daily.

He fooled more of the people more of the time than any other president, but he was an actor, and he was acting.

No, of course. actors are not brainless. Actors are very good at reciting the script in a totally sincere and convincing manner. That is a talent, and it requires rather a lot of practice to master.  But of course, it means that they are good at being insincere while pretending to be sincere. Michael J Fox played a dippy young Reaganite and his personal views were nearly the opposite.  Carol O'Connor was the opposite of Archie Bunker, and Edith Stapleton was very far from being a dingbat.

Before Reagan entered politics, he gave pro-corporate anti-union speeches for the National Chamber of Congress all over California. Unlike Fox and O'Connor, he began to actually believe his own bullshit. And that was when they decided to trot him out for governor.
Of course, he had previously ratted out the members of his union, the SAG to the House Unamerican Activities witchhunts.

  And as Governor of California...?

Reagan had a long and varied career , many evidences of his extremely high intelligence level must be studiously avoided.

You know of course that president Obama aspires to emulate president Reagan and has said so, but he probably just lacks the depth.

Yeah Reagan was a fuckin' genius,

When the SLS got the Hearsts to donate food to the poor. Reagan said it would have been good time for a salmonella outbreak.

The people who got the food were in no way connected to the SLS.

Reagan was a contemptible sumbitch.

Obanma did not aspire to ape Reagan's policies; he just wanted to be a president that effected serious change.
And that is what he did. He was 100 times better than that old bastard Reagan.
