Suspect in fatal NW Houston store shooting in U.S. under DACA program

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The man wanted for murdering a father who came to the aid of a shooting victim is a "Dreamer" with violent felons for a father and brother.

Judas Deluna, 21, is on the run, and accused of killing a father and husband as he just tried to help. De Luna is charged with felony murder in the shooting death of Rahman Rupani, 30.

The shooting happened outside DJ's Food Mart in northwest Harris County on Jan. 26.

Investigators believe Deluna got into a fight with a man in the parking lot and retrieved a gun from his vehicle. He then returned to shoot him. Rupani, whose father owns the store, was inside. He came to the shooting victim's aid and was shot, too. Rupani had two young children and a wife.

After three weeks on the run, Eyewitness News has learned Deluna is in the United States under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. He is undocumented, a so-called Dreamer.

I keep hearing about these "dreamers" that are NOT US CITIZENS that have become doctors, nurses, & teachers.

That's a great thing, but wouldn't it be nice for them to return to their home country and pursue those careers there?

Mexico & The Dominican Republic desperately need doctors and nurses.

That does happen and in greater numbers in the form of exchange students. Dreamers is a different situation and which they are at a disadvantage when deported.

i say just open immigration to greater numbers but all those undocumented will be have to start behind those already in the system. But first the system needs to be revamped. One of the reasons alot of immigrants are not opposing undocument immigrants is because it really is a joke . Notice not too many say "if i can make it they can" . They've seen way too many family and friends not make it believe the system works. Doesn't help that legal immigrants are getting harrased .
