If <<there's evidence that Graves was fired because he wouldn't do Schlozman's bidding>> in suppressing minority voting rights, how come Graves himself doesn't make that allegation in public? And where's the evidence that the article refers to?
I'm not denying that Republicans suppress the black vote - - but this story should be a lot stronger than it is. It seems like it was rushed into publication before all the loose ends were tied up. Why wouldn't Graves go public on it? Have they got something on him? They mentioned the "fee office" scandal and then claim that both the Republican Senator and Graves himself say that has nothing to do with the firing. But why mention it in the first place? Is this some not-so-subtle form of blackmail on Graves - - go public and we'll nail your ass to the wall on this other scandal? Or is THAT just a red herring and they're really blackmailing Graves on some other issue entirely? Sounds to me like a promising story, but needs a lot of work.
