Al-Libbi was a "senior al Qaeda manager" who in 2005 suggested to bin Laden that bin Laden send Egyptian-born Hamza Rabia to Iraq to help plan attacks on American soil, Johndroe said.

Proving nothing.  If they planned to establish a base in Germany, that would justify an attack on Germany?  You gotta prove that Iraq was in on it, not that al Qaeda liked Iraq.

And anyway - - I wouldn't believe a word the guy says.  They torture him, he says whatever he thinks they want to hear.

Totally useless piece of garbage information, typical of CNN - - they don't even bother to caution viewers that the guy was probably tortured to say what he said.

In May 2005, al-Libi was captured. Several months later, in December 2005, al-Rabia was killed in Pakistan. In June of 2006, al-Zarqawi was killed in Iraq in a U.S. airstrike.

Actually, making the new information public earlier might have allowed Bush to use it to his political advantage, Townsend said. "This is kind of late to be able to bring this to the game," she said, adding that intelligence officials needed time to exploit the information.
