The Republicans are so deep into theological disputes that their Iowa race is beginning to sound like the Council of Trent.

An interesting post, but what I read was about drugs, not theology.

Certainly the piece centered on drugs.

The Council of Trent snippet caught my eye and rang true.

Turns out that in Mormon theology that Jesus and Satan are brothers... sort of. It has something to do with the Mormons not considering angels and humans as being all that different. But that is no weirder than many beliefs of many more standard sects. Satan was a bad brother, it turns out, of course.

Joseph Smith, it seems, didn't seem to have spent much times studying all the implications that the RC Church spent the Middle Ages defining, so he went and did it all on his own, or perhaps God explained it all to him, him being a prophet and all.

I can't imagine how believing that Jesus and Satan are brothers might affect the presidency.

Seems like it is all about branding.

I would no sooner not vote for a candidate because they drank Pepsi and i prefer Coke than i would not vote for a candidate because they were a member of the LDS and i choose not to attend.

The thing that strikes me about Romney is that he  seems to want it so very, very bad.
I am guessing that his father's candidacy was instrumental in this. George Romney was doing quite well, and then he went to Viet Nam, and stated that he was now against after the war when he had been for it, because he had been "brainwashed". A poor choice of words, and the media pounced upon it as though the poor man had no brain at all.

In reality, most of the country was brainwashed until the Tet offensive. But the arms makers and the rightwing were not ready to lose their vast income from the war, and G. Romney was ignored from that moment on.

Unless he gets elected and then they get him drunk, I don't expect to hear Mitt comment on this.

It would be silly to run unless you wanted to win.

I'm sure Hillary wants to win.

Edwards certainly does.

I think Obama is surprised he is doing this well and thinks he has a chance to win.

Ron Paul i don't think expects to win, His goal is to influence and moderate the other candidates, nudge them to his way of thinking.

Same with Dennis.
