people who eat rice for decades develope a preference to certain brands.

The only kind of rice I know I don't like is brown rice.  I've never tasted jasmine or basmati rice, but I'd like to.

They're both good. Many Chinese and Thai restaurants will give you these if you ask.

I wouldn't recommend it. Zatarain's makes good long grain rice.

The brown rice I have tried tastes like cardboard. Small icky bits of cardboard. LIke chewing the newspaper. Ick!

I like Valencia short grained rice, mixed with pastini and spiked with something buttery-tasting, saffron and garlic. I add peas, diced bell peppers, both red and green, chicken or shrimp. It all microwaves in about 20 minutes.
