DENVER - A Colorado Democratic delegate and former Hilary Clinton supporter said a state party official wanted her to resign her post because she made disparaging comments about presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama.

KMGH-TV and The Denver Post reported that the Colorado Democratic Party said Monday the issue is resolved and they won’t ask Boulder delegate Sacha Millstone to resign.

That was not the case last week, Millstone said.

She said state political Director Billy Compton wrote her an e-mail telling her to come to his office to explain her “comments and why you should remain a national delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in light of these comments.”

Millstone told KMGH Monday she made the comments about Obama to another delegate in a private e-mail. It wasn’t immediately known what those comments were.

“I think that one of the reasons I got this letter was to intimidate me,” Millstone told KMGH. “It sounded very totalitarian. I thought it sounded undemocratic and I was completely shocked.”

Compton told The Denver Post he simply wanted to discuss with Millstone the “possibility of her voluntarily resigning her position.”

“I simply wanted to discuss the matter with her,” he said.

Millstone, who has hired a lawyer, was infuriated.

"Isn't there a right to free speech? Isn't this right in line with our time-honored tradition with the Dems?" she said. "These intimidation tactics have a chilling effect on people feeling comfortable speaking up."

Millstone's lawyer wrote Compton asking for the rules that allow the party to threaten removal from the state delegation.

State party officials said Monday that the issue has been dropped.

This is really small potatoes compared to outing CIA agents and firing US Attys for which there is still no taking of responsibility from the Busheviks.

Oh?

I didn't say it was big , it is merely interesting.

I don't know if it is a sign of a very bad attitude twards personal freedom , or just a random misunderstanding.
