First of all, your comparison to Marx and his outrageous idealistic breath of dirty air certainly is not the same as the race for America's next president.

The points are completely pertinent. There are many people right here in these "United" States that believe them. They debate and they vote. The illusion, the idealistic vision, that this country can "work together" is not realistic. The average 7 year old has very little experience and thinks simplistically - like Obama. The average 56 ear old has been through a hell of lot privately and watched society go through wars, economic crises, terror attacks, epidemics and disasters. That person thinks far more realistically than 7 year olds who may still believe in Santa. I very seriously doubt that you will find ANY 7 year old, much less the average one, who can discuss with even rudimentary skill health care, security, or education. They are complicated issues, and the average 56 year old understands that. But let me make it simple. We can solve all of the problems right now. Do away with ALL government subsidized health care. Let those who can afford insurance get care and those who can't die. It's simple Darwinism: the strong survive, the weak drop out of the gene pool. Drop nuclear bombs on all the major population centers in Russia, China, North Korea and Iran- and let's hit those mountain strongholds in Pakistan as well. Then go round up anybody in the US with a Spanish accent and put them in interment camps. Those who cannot prove US citizenship get shot on site. Outlaw any practice of Islam on pain of being tortured to death and fed to pigs. Do away with all public education and allow parents to teach. Any parents who wish to can contract private schools at their expense. Anyone unable to compete under this scenario will be sent into slave labor camps to work on infrastructure. See how well that worls out?
Those are all simple answers and THEY WOULD WORK. Of course, aside from the flagrant inhumanity, there would be a lot of unintended consequences that might cause even greater problems. If these problems had simple answers, we wouldn't have or need politicians. That's a lovely idea, but it hasn't been realistic since Israel insisted on having a King to be like all the other folks.
We DO NOT MORE FORWARD. That is my point. We dig deeper into the trenches of hate and bigotry and an unwillingness to accept the other's insights as possibly a "good idea'. It's aint wonderful. It is more of the same. Who gets elected? Someday we will see that who gets elected is a group of individuals....a commitee...not one hero/well deserving black man/angry white woman/powerful strong white woman/confused Jewish male/horney southern ex gentleman with angry white wife at his side/
That's true. Blacks are still slaves, and HEY what are you doing running your mouth about politics anyway? You're a woman. Get back in the kitchen where you belong. And what's this nonsense about blacks and women running for office? That's never going to happen. This is the United States of America, dammit. All thirteen colonies agree that slavery is acceptable, the federal government should never have more power than the several states, and Great Britain is our enemy. Oh and by the way, we'll never have a standing army.

As it happens, we DO move forward by debate and opposition. It took a CIVIL WAR to break down the tradition of slavery. It took protests and boycotts pitted against police dogs and fire hoses to get blacks the unencumbered right to vote - much less have one run for President. None of this happened because people worked together. It happened because people were willing to work AGAINST. You talk about electing a "committee." Hi. Let me introduce you to the Congress. It's a little body of about 534 or so folks broken down into two houses - one that represents the people and one that represents the states. Obama doesn't understand that concept either, so you're in good company. The founding fathers recognized that there needed to be a chief executive and so they created one. They gave him appropriate powers and put appropriate checks against him. They also fought, screamed, debated, walked out and beat into shape the Constitution during the summer of 1787. They realized that a compromise was needed between equal representation of all states and proportionate representation of the populace. They hammered out this glorious bicameral legislature and now Obama says that BIGGER states should have BIGGER representation in the Senate. What an ignorant thing for a Senator to believe.
Review our history? It is a history of violence, debate, competition and growth. The dream you speak of is just that - a dream. Actually, a nightmare. But it all seems so beautiful. Come into my parlor . . .
