Seeking the Center, Seeking Consensus
« on: November 13, 2006, 04:00:51 PM »
No matter what the order of the day may be in a different time, the mandate now, especially regarding the war in Iraq and overall foreign policy in this age of terrorism and proliferation, is for the United States of America to unify as much as possible to solve the pressing issues of our time. To do this, we must engage in spirited and intelligent debate and abide by or adapt to the consensus that emerges. I say this regardless of the impact "good policy" may have on the '08 presidential and congressional elections.

I can live with that.

As long as it involves the US withdrawing from Iraq completely by 01.01.08.

OR

I could even go along with the plan that I think of as the "Yellow Brick Road" plan.  Start with  a one black radius outside the Green Zone in Baghdad.  Have the electricity, water, sewage and garbage disposal run perfectly with police patrols and relative safety and slowly expand outward from there.

Start with Baghdad.  Get Baghdad humming.  Then move to the next city.  But to do that, you'll have to have more troops and that's just not going to happen.

In my opinion your second scenario is more likely. And they will bring in more troops. One way or another.

That's was the technique Saddam used.

Only he never expanded much past Baghdad.

Well, we've done everything else like Saddam did (killing, maiming, torturing, raping, stealing, etc) why not emulate his "good" ideas too?
