Cindy Sheehan's Campaign Headquarters Heavily Damaged in Late Night Attack

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Just 5 days before the election, at 3a.m. on October 30th, all of the front windows of the Cindy Sheehan for Congress campaign offices were shattered. Although staffers had been in the office less than an hour earlier, no one was in the building at the time of the incident. No one was hurt and there were no witnesses. Cindy Sheehan is a candidate for Congress in California's 8th Congressional District race against incumbent Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

"It seems to have been a calculated intimidation tactic," said Tiffany Burns, the Cindy for Congress campaign manager. "One of our computers was stolen, but no other property was taken from our offices and no surrounding buildings were targeted. Clearly they wanted to both frighten us and to gather information." Total damage to the campaign office is currently estimated at more than $5,000.

The Cindy for Congress campaign recently chronicled a series of unusual events, including other threats of violence, in a statement issued on October 13th. In that statement, Cindy Sheehan noted "[t]he past few weeks have been a little strange at Cindy for Congress [...] the things that have been happening could just be coincidences, or a run of bad luck, but the climate for the possibility of campaign hanky-panky certainly exists."

Campaign staffers also note each incident, including today's early morning incident, has followed closely on the heels of a confrontation with Cindy Sheehan's opponent Nancy Pelosi. This morning's incident occurred after an on-air confrontation between the two candidates on KQED's public affairs program Forum with Michael Krasny on Wednesday morning.

"Each time we confront her, each time we ask her for a debate, each time we gain ground in the polls, something horrible happens," said Burns. "Once or twice might be a coincidence, but such a consistent correlation is hard to ignore."

Turn on you?  That's rich.  Cindy was furious at Pelosi for selling out for at least two years, beginning with the new  Democratic majority making no real effort to cut war funding and Pelosi's asinine comment that impeachment was "off the table."

If "they" turned on Cindy as you claim, it makes your original claim that "they'll" turn on you in a heartbeat (which I assume refers to Cindy's unsubstantiated accusations against the Pelosi campaign) even more absurd, since it precludes the possibility of Cindy turning on them at all.  You're basically claiming that "they" turned on Cindy even before Pelosi sold out or at the same time, and that Cindy, already on the outs with them, accused them of mischief.

The spinner can't seem to get traction. Some one smashed her campaign headquarters and i doubt it was the GOP.

They, Pelosi, Murtha and company were more than happy when Cindy was the darling of the anti-warriors. Now that she is focusing more locally, she is a danger to the status quo. Viva the revolution, unless the revolution isn't to your liking. Then crush it at all costs.

Cindy didn't sell out, She is running to affect change from the inside. She is saying Pelosi isn't liberal enough for her district.

Pelosi sold out, much like your hero Ayers.

<<Cindy didn't sell out, She is running to affect change from the inside. She is saying Pelosi isn't liberal enough for her district.

Pelosi sold out . . . >>

I never said otherwise.  That is correct.

<< . . .  much like your hero Ayers. >>

Ayers didn't sell out either.  He was willing to engage in armed confrontation with the state when it seemed to have some chance of success, although personally my belief is that revolution in the U.S.A. was always a non-starter.  Its peak chance of success was in 1968 but even that was a real long shot.

When it was clear that Revolution was not going to work, Ayers made the necessary accommodation with the system and decided to work from within.  That is not selling out in my books.

Ayer's was an opportunist. His own agenda was always at the forefront, whether it be blowing up buildings, allowing pawns to be fodder or fomenting revolution through the classroom, it's always been about him.
