At least some of these beers are Pilsners, and Pilsen is NOT in Germany.

A pilsner is a lagered beer. Look, there are three main types of beer - lager, ale, and lambic. The difference is in fermentation style. Both lagers and ales were developed in Germany and comprise probably about 97% of the beer sold throughout the world. Lambics are only popular in a small region of north Europe and come originally from Belgium. Lambics tend to have a fruitier flavor, but since they use an open-cask fermentation method, they don't last long after finishing and shipping is therefore a problem. Both ales and lagers use a closed-cask fermentation. Lagers are also cold fermented which takes longer but there is very little chance for secondary infections, so they are the most used fermentation method (probably about 60-70% of the beers sold in the world are lagers).
Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight. (Benjamin Franklin)
