I like the .5, lol.
And what a cool plane!  When I was little, all I wanted to do was build or fly planes.   I hammered boards together and painted dials on them.  Then I turned 3 and had to go to ballet lessons, what a damn waste of money.

The C-130 is one of the best of all the general purpose aircraft in the world , it was designed before I was born and it is very ordinary for me to be working on a Plane origionally built when I was four.

The C-130 has been used to spray mousquito poison and to drop bombs and to put out fires and to fire on enemy on the ground to refuel helicopters and to snag men right off the ground  , no other aircraft has been so amenible to modifacation to specialised roles and few have been used so much for cargo carrying.

Background
Four decades have elapsed since the Air Force issued its original design specification, yet the remarkable C-130 remains in production. The initial production model was the C-130A, with four Allison T56-A-11 or -9 turboprops. A total of 219 were ordered and deliveries began in December 1956. The C-130B introduced Allison T56-A-7 turboprops and the first of 134 entered Air Force service in May 1959.

Introduced in August of 1962, the 389 C-130E's that were ordered used the same Allison T56-A-7 engine, but added two 1,290 gallon external fuel tanks and an increased maximum takeoff weight capability. June 1974 introduced the first of 308 C-130H's with the more powerful Allison T56-A-15 turboprop engine. Nearly identical to the C-130E externally, the new engine brought major performance improvements to the aircraft.

An eight year old lives here .

Yesterday morning he gleefully produced a history book and showed me a picture of Grover Cleveland .

I didn't understand his enthusiasm until he said , "He looks like you Mr. Mike!"

"Beginning in FY 1996, the Air Force started procuring C-130Js as replacements for the older C-130Es and Hs. Priority for replacement will be combat delivery aircraft. C-130J will ensure total force structure numbers are maintained, while reducing costs of ownership. The current program procures 12 C-130Js, i.e., two per year from FY96 to FY01. This program could be expanded in FY02 to procure 12 C-130Js a year to replace the active duty and ARC C-130Es which are nearing the end of their useable service life. "

but that was a different time and a different life, Mike.  Now we are living in Florida and he does renovations.  Much better for his mind and body.
