Oceanside Open Carry

I am not sure about this....
The Police Officer seems like a great guy...professional, courteous, respectful.
just trying to do his difficult job
But there has to be some kind of "balance".....no?
I am pro-gun rights....but I am not sure we want people
at every corner wearing guns....or maybe we do?
Discuss? ....after watching video.

No, not smart

CCW's are perfectly within reason and far more of a deterrent, if "the bad guys" don't know who's carrying.  Allowing someone to carry openly puts a massively huge bullseye on their torso.

SIRS...one time....long before concealed weapons license ect... I asked a police officer here
"would it be perfectly legal for me to walk down Main Street here in this huge city carrying a shotgun?"
he said "yes it would be legal...we may stop to question you...and it may not be very smart...but yes it's legal"

Once the cop sees that the gun is unloaded, what difference does it make what this guy's name is?

The cop knows that the guy doesn't have to show ID., so why does he bother to ask for it?

On the other hand, walking down the street with a gun in full view is just asking for trouble.

That's actually the case in many places, C.  I've been told that myself by an officer, when I was taking one of my firearms' safety courses.  He said its legal in many places, but be expected to have cops showing up with guns drawn

that makes sense
you got a right to carry a gun, but that still means you got a gun in your hand and should be treated as such.
