To me the assembly of these devices looks simple , the 3D printer looks intriguing.

Would running these devices from standard and available softwares be possible?

I can't spend a lot , but I do crave that 3D printer.

I think that this technology is at the stage that the pc revolution was 35 years ago. If you treat it as a hobby and spend accordingly, the entertainment costs would be worthwhile.

There is an article in Maximum PC magazine on this 3-D printer. It sounds neat, but I can't think of anything I want to print that would merit the cost.

Cost seems moderate, but too much to spend casually.
