The Romans renamed Judea "Palestine" after the Palestinian people, known in Biblical times as Philistines. Archaeologists believe that the Philistines were refugees from Mycenean Greece around 400 BCE.

Closely related to Jews, Palestinians represent "descendants of a core population that lived in the area since prehistoric times."[17] Since the time of the Muslim conquests in the 7th century, Palestinians have been predominantly Muslim by religious affiliation and linguistically and culturally Arab.[13] Most Palestinians are Sunni Muslims, but there is a significant Palestinian Christian minority of various Christian denominations, as well as Druze Palestinians and a small Samaritan community. Palestinian Jews made up part of the population of Palestine prior to the creation of the State of Israel, but very few identify as "Palestinian" today. The vernacular of Palestinians, irrespective of religion, is the Palestinian dialect of Arabic. For those who are Arab citizens of Israel, many are bilingual and fluent in Modern Hebrew. Those in the diaspora speak the languages of their host countries in addition to Arabic or to its exclusion.

Not all Jews are descendants of the Hebrews, either. Many Russian and Polish Jews are descendants of the Khazars, a Turkic people who converted to Judaism aroiunf 800 AD.

There are people who believe themselves to be Palestinians, no matter what some right wing Orthodox clowns claim, just as the descendants of the Khazars consider themselves to be Jews.

What you are quoting here is a right wing bunch of crap that most Jews themselves do not believe. Spew it elsewhere, no one sane believes this.

There were Palestinians Arabs in Israel before the Zionists came, and they were driven out by the Israeli Army. Ohters left at the instructions of the various Arab countries, who said there would be a 'free fire" zone established, and they let to avoid be caught in a battle. Then they were prevented from returning home.

Yes yes , so you agree that they qualify as oligarchs?

Not really. Soros is not a true oligarch,as he is a Jew, a foreigner, a speculator and an outsider, and Reid is simply a senator. Elected leaders are rarely oligarchs. Bob Taft and the Bushes are exceptions to this,as they were both elected and oligarchs (due to the huge family fortune).

The members of the oligarchy tend to sit on the Boards of Directors of many large corporations. They are generally quite secretive, and rarely call attention to themselves. The Koch brothers and Steve Forbes (of Forbes magazine) are true oligarchs, as are the Johnsons of Johnson & Johnson.

These directorships are interlocking, meaning that the same people sit on the board of Virginia Electric as well as the boards of companies that make generators and sell coal and oil. Al you need to do to track them down are some Corporate Annual Reports of S&P 500 companies.

That gives me a better idea of what you define as an oligarch.

The oligarchs are the members of the small, wealthy elite that control American business. These guys get as much as $300K for attending four or fewer meetings of the Board of Directors, plus travel, often by company jet.

Jamie Johnson, an heir to the Johnson & Johnson Company, recently made a film titled "The One Percent" about his social caste. It is available on Netflix for rental or instant viewing. In it, he interviews a variety of other wealthy people and their accomplices, including Milton Friedman, who he eventually ticks off. he interviews one of Warren Buffett's adopted daughters who works as a nanny, and she gets disowned by Warren as a result. Most of the One Percent do not want to talk to him of course.

It is well worth watching.

I doubt it. There are lots of tax dodges, and they probably push a lot of their costs down the scale to less wealthy people. They certainly get their money's worth. I personally do not need the help of the Secretary of Commerce, becausae I do not sell pills and medical supplies around the world. . Johnson & Johnson does.

So progressive taxation is an illusion?

It is not entirely an illusion. I do not have the individual facts about this. I do know that there are ways that soem people avoid paying taxes at the highest rates. Steve Forbes can pay himself in stock options and pay at the Capital gains rate, for example. If you are a family that owns a controlling interest in a large growing company, there are a number of legal ruses, and with the money these folks have, they can pay the lawyers to invent them. They can hire lobbyists.
