Sell recomendation
« on: March 30, 2012, 07:41:48 PM »
    http://dailyreckoning.com/hitlers-blackberry/

Very thought provoking essay on the weakness of relyance on technology , relyance on arrogant leadership etc and the strength of diversity and peoplepower.

By dint of comparison with Natzi failings and British intellectual heros he reccomends selling stock right now.

I Hope he isn't right , but he is definately thought provoking.

What did you think of his thinking?

The way he connected the near and the far , the small and the universal .

I don't think he proved his case, but I really enjoyed the ramble.

I have suspected that the stock market and the nations economy were separate realities for years.

But yes he made his point in quite an interesting way.

Another one of a thousand nervous Nellies. This one made less sense than most I have seen.

Hitler's blackberry? Really.
I will compare gold and the s&p 500 and see which performs better.

Do you think that the government is trying to prop up values in the stock market?

No, I do not believe that the government is propping up the stock market. I don't think there is any way they COULD do this, other than buying stock to set a floor price, and we know they are not doing that.

There is a sell=it-all-and-invest-in-gold promoter every month. If I had listened to the first one, I would not have half the money in my IRAs that I now have.

This particular guy made less sense than most.

His thinking? Not much....

But they did draw on all the talents and strengths produced by American, British, and European society at the time. And those societies were all stronger because of their commitment to political and economic liberty.

I'd say that hardly makes a care that American, British, and European societies were intrinsically stronger, it simply makes the case that they outnumbered the Germans. Pretty obviously, Hitler could have beaten any one of them one on one. If Nazi society was really that weak, why is it that invoking "the Next Hitler" is still sufficient to leave the majority of the western world shitting in it's pants?

Technology and innovation is what drives most of most economies now, and it has been that way for a long, long time.
