I agree that Ashton Kutcher was embarrassingly awful in that commercial. I agree that the accent was ghastly and the entire delivery was just horrible. It was so bad I had to watch the stupid thing four times to get the name of the product he was hawking.

It was even worse that those 1940's movies when every time some White actor in bad Chinese make up appeared on the screen, the soundtrack would do a "chingy, chigy ching ching" riff.

I find the use of the term "Asian" to be rather vague, since it could refer to a vast number of diverse nationalities: Azeris, Armenians, Israelis, Iranians, Kazakhs, Nepalese, Cambodians, Buryats, Turkmens, Kurds, as well as Chinese and Indians.

Chinese appear to favor the term "Asians" when they mean Chinese.

Indians appear to favor the term "Asians" when they mean Indians.\

Everyone else uses the actual nationality: Burmese, Cambodians, Laotians, Iranians, etc.

Actually Asian has been  tolarant of such treatment and the end result is assaults targeting asians and it not be called a hate crimes due to asians being too tolerant.

Lighten up can be harmful to asians.

That Ashton Kutcher ad was not a hate crime, it was just dumb.

When it fails to sell chips, it is history.

It was an awful ad by any standard. It was dumb, it was so dumb that the utter stupidity of Kutcher's awful performance and silly make up prevented any positive message for the product. Indians are not recognized authorities on corn-based American snack foods, Indians have nothing to do with such products. It was like an ad featuring Eddie Murphy made up to look like an Eskimo selling mousetraps.

I don't expect it to be on the air for long. i have not seen it on TV even once. I don't think I have seen this product in any stores. A lot of snack products are regional.

The character "Raj Kutrapali" on The Big Bang Theory is as funny as the other characters, but there is some degree of character development and some pretty fair comedy writing.

It does tend to demean scientists, though. Instead of portraying them as strange and evil like Dr Frankenstein or just weird geniuses, as Dr Emmet Brown, on the Back to the Future series, it portrays them as malfunctioning geeks obsessed with comic books and video games. Leonard is the only half normal character on the show.

I think it is funny, though.

Big bang covers a most ignore demographics which will finally hear science ,comics, scifi jokes and still entertain the average audience.

I still can't get enough of that stephen hawkins episode. Thats just the best.

I hope they get neil tyson to show and make pluto jokes. (that man will never live down what he did to pluto)

They already did, for a brief cameo. Sheldon expressed his disappointment over the loss of Pluto.

I don't personally care much. The decision seemed rational to me.

I listen to his podcast and it's totally cool . He did a fashion episode that was actually interesting. He hinted ignorance to not that bad. Can't wait to find that podcast and his opinion on that subject.
