All this talk about babies and religion got me thinking
« on: February 04, 2013, 01:50:21 AM »
I asking has the church always thought the life of the unborne child valuable? I've books of the past and the high infant mortality in those days tend bring a culture of prefered indifference about the death of a child. Meaning ths may not be a matter of religion but what the present day church prefers.

I'll go even further and ask when abortions became known did the church  had a problem of a process that rid the world of children of unwed mothers.

See what happens when I'm off the web for a month

I don't know about when abortions came about, i would assume the medical technology was around in one form or another before even the church came into being.

But i also know that the church has been involved with orphanages for almost as long, so i disagree that they held an indifferent attitude to children in need.

But were they refuges for the kids or dumping grounds? The past was pretty harsh place for children.

Predates Christ as a problem.
