Guns and Doctors

..... a clear demographic dividing line exists on this issue. Among Americans who are 50 and above, two-thirds own firearms, Gallup pollsters found. Among Americans between the ages of 18 and 49, about half own guns....

What would you say if your doctor asked you if you owned a gun?

My doctor has never asked me about guns. I doubt if he ever will.

I don't think that  being responsible with guns is related to age.

Perhaps there are a few elderly people who might get the urge to shoot themselves, but I am just speculating.

I don't have a gun. I have a cigarette lighter that looks like one somewhere.

You could carve a bar of soap into a gun.

I could buy a very realistic fake gun. I could buy a flare gun or keep a black powder musket handy.

I do not think I need a gun. I have managed without one all my life, other than recreationally shooting rats in the Randle WA Town Dump.

  I shall not tell PETA.

If you can defend yourself with the threat of a thing that looks like a gun but is not .

This possibly works because the person you are bluffing thinks it is possible that it is a real gun.

So if guns were really scarce this wouldn't work.

There is a King Snake that is colored a lot like a Coral Snake, this strategy must work for the snake , but if there were no dangerous Coral Snakes , it would not.

Criminals that want to live to commit future crimes , need to go with the odds and stay where they are less likely to get shot ,even if there is not certainty that there is someone with a gun.

Target stores has just posted a bulletin to its customers , requesting that they stop coming into the store armed , even where this is legal.

I think I shall avoid Target entirely now that it is an official free fire zone.

I do have some pepper spray in my car. I bought it for $2 in a yard sale years ago.

Unlikely that I would use my pepper spray for illegal purposes. I would have to find it first.

Wow....in that case, it's a good thing you don't own a gun.  Leave that to the more responsibly minded    8)

Wow.

This pretty much means that you are not able to use it for its legal purposes.

But if you were planning a crime , you would have time to find or replace it.

I think you should find it and make it handy enough to respond to an attack with it , or find it and destroy it.

Having it hidden from yourself is not necessarily the same as  having it responsibly secured from your visitors , who might include inquisitive children.

There are no inquisitive children anywhere around my house. It is probably in a toolbox.
