I was hoping that somehow that would find a way to introduce a Maori or two.

I suppose that Middle Earth and Aotearoa are incompatible.

Middle earth strikes me as European in nature , tho entirely fictional.

The backdrop of the New Zeeland landscape added good things to the story.

There may indeed be some winning stories in Maori legend , but they are not yet widely known.

So not as easy to make money with them.

Non Polynesians are not interested in Maoris much.

People who are really interested in Polynesia tend to go to Tahiti more than New Zealand.

It makes up for the rather boring name "All Blacks". Like the "Cleven]land Browns" or the "Red Socks", a boring name.

New Zealand used to have the ideal mascot, a giant flightless bird called the Moa.

Lamentably, the Maori arrived and by the time the Europeans arrived, the Maori had killed and eaten them all.

The Scots have some rather macho rituals one can see at Scottish games.
