What was the "better idea" for the Soviets? The American economic system was never possible for the Russians to have.

After the end of the USSR, the Russians had a horrible decline. Massive unemployment, Thieves taking over the resources.
Life expectancy for Russian men is under 60 years.

The US did not want the Soviets to prosper then.
The people who actually run this country (the Oligarchy) do not want Russia to prosper now.
Russia has more real estate than any country on Earth, and therefore more resources to exploit.

It isn't against any rule for them to have better instead of worse.

What about our system is difficult for them to imitate , or do better than?

What are you saying about the American oligarchy? That they do not like international deals?

Hehehehee Almost too much they enjoy international dealing.

Nixon went to China didn't he? China opened to us a little , then a lot , then submerged their economy under a monsoon of dollars.

The Russians could not do that?

In a word, no.

China is populated with a billion Chinese.

Russia is populated with many, many fewer Russians.

Chinese are natural businessmen. Russians are many things, but businessmen, they are not.

China
Population:
1,355,692,576 (July 2014 est.)

Russia
142,470,272 (July 2014 est.)

Your numbers check out , there are almost ten times as many Chinese in China as Russians in Russia.

But what about the number prevents making business deals with the US?

The impression I get about the situation of Russia is that they want to boss Europe around , and hold their winter heat hostage to political cooperation.

Chinese are natural businessmen. Russians are many things, but businessmen, they are not.

Hmmmm.... this is almost the point I was making , but I don't think that any people are congenitally good businessmen , or bad ones.
Do you mean that the Russians have cultural issues with good business practice that the Chinese don't?

     I might agree to that.

Chinese are the product of a culture that goes back 3000 years.

Russians have nothing like that. The Russian Federation has over 100 other nationalities, each of them trying very hard not to be Russian.

Regardless of age , there are Chinese cultural features that have definitely proven to be good for business, ....

So Ok you are basically right on that point,...

So you think that Chinese culture was not broken, or severely bent, by Two generations raised on Marxism?

It is obvious that the instinct to make money is alive and prospering in the Peoples' Republic. The theories are less important than the results.

The government in the PRC, unlike the government in Russia, sets some rules against fraud and scams that has resulted in a fairly steady growth rate for far more years in China than has ever occurred anywhere else.  Chinese have what is called a Protestant Ethic in the US, Russians tend to think up scams.
Russia has far more resources, because of its size.
