True , a carelessly fired rifle is dangerous for about a mile, further is possible.

No one who is holding a gun should be anything like careless.

This is very like cars, careless driving is deadly and happens more than gunplay.

   This does not make any difference to the need for carefulness.

    In our present circumstances , a weapon might be useful ,really, only once or twice in a lifetime, but you have to be careful with them all of the time .

    A car is probably useful two or three times a day, but you have to be careful with it all of the time.
