It is every bit as illegal for the US to attack Isis in Syria as it is to arm Assad's enemies. The US has not been invited to fight anyone in Syria. All fighting and aid in Syria is clearly illegal. This woman wants us to illegally fight Isis and to stop arming Isis' enemies, as though that would be more effective.
The US cannot defeat Isis unless it sends in ground troops. Experience has shown that while we can placate an enemy for a while, we can only keep them eliminated by occupying the country. Otherwise, they just reassemble and fight some more.
She makes a BIG DEAL about the illegality of attacking Assad;s enemies, but thinks that attacking Isis is a great idea. But that is also illegal.
The President is right, Assad will have to go before this can stop. But even removing Assad will not stop the fighting. Syrians are divided into many factions, and refuse to compromise with one another.
The US invading Iraq caused major chaos. Certainly far fewer Iraqis would have been killed, maimed and displaced if Saddam were still in power.
The same is true of Afghanistan. More Afghans have died than would have died had we just left Afghanistan alone. Especially if Zbigniew Brzezinski's collaboration to use Saudi missionaries to turn Afghanistan into a place perceived as dangerous to the Soviets.
The US has screwed up many countries. So have the Russians, the Brits, the French and the Germans. But we have improved very, very few of them. And South Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines mostly improved themselves when we did a better job of pointedly refraining from dicking around with their politics.
I think that Hawaii is probably the very safest place to hide from Isis attacks, being as bags are checked on all departures for Hawaii.
